ASTHMA

Asthma is a lung condition in which the airways constrict and fill with mucus. Asthma sufferers experience wheezing, coughing, and difficulty breathing. Some cases of asthma are severe, requiring hospitalization, while other cases are mild. Some people outgrow their asthma, but 8.3% of American adults have asthma.

MEDICATING ASTHMA

The traditional way to treat asthma is with rescue inhalers (albuterol sulfate) and steroids (prednisone). Common side effects of albuterol sulfate include headache, dizziness,

sleep problems (insomnia), cough, hoarseness, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth and throat, muscle pain, or diarrhea.

Side effects of systemic steroids can include weakness, acne, weight gain, mood or behavior changes, upset stomach, bone loss, eye changes, and slowing of growth.

TREATMENT

At TLC, we want to treat asthma patients as early as possible. If your child has been diagnosed with asthma, chiropractic care, proper diet, and healthy hydration are the keys to freeing him or her from a life of breathing problems, steroids, and side effects.

Regulating the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system through chiropractic care releases and alleviates the tension in the back and shoulders, freeing asthma sufferers from their symptoms.
