I was raised to never quit at anything you start or you will become a failure!
I was told quitters are weak.
Quitters lack discipline and willpower.
Quitters lack conviction and they never accomplish anything.
In other words failing is the same as quitting.
But what I have discovered is THAT IS NOT TRUE!
I have discovered that failure is the pathway to success. And the only true failure is to Quit!
I started my road to failing over a decade ago.
But this is when I realized that failing is the second best thing that can happen in your life. If you think about it, your failure can bring you one step closer to your victory.
So today I want to talk with you about why I believe that failure is the pathway to success! Just take a hard look at this quote from arguably the greatest basketball player to ever live.
“I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life… And that is why I succeed.” -Michael Jordan
“Success isn’t permanent, and failure isn’t fatal,” - Winston Churchill. We all make mistakes, but we can't let our failures define us. The truth is, failure isn’t final. We should learn to treat success and failure exactly the same…they are both imposters. Don’t allow success to trick you into thinking everything is great or failure to rob you of confidence, enthusiasm and joy. Instead, see it as a single event. Failure is the beginning of a new chapter, not the end of the story. And you are the narrator!
It is important to take responsibility for our failures. Your life is a product of what you have produced up until this point. If you have produced a win, it’s your win…If you have produced a loss, it’s your loss. In order to learn and grow from failures we must be willing to take a hard look at the man in the mirror. Maybe we weren’t prepared enough, focused enough, didn’t work hard enough or maybe you had some misfortune that was out of your control. The reality is, we can't change the past. But if we are willing to own it, WE CAN CHANGE THE FUTURE!
Don't pretend it never happened. People are often so anxious to avoid the stigma of failure that they refuse to admit what happened. Denial usually results in a host of other problems, including internal stress and delaying any effective change. Remember, you are not alone. People fail to reach goals all the time. Take Michael Jordan for example, who I mentioned in my opening statements. He has failed multiple times over the course of his career. But when he failed, he did it in front of millions of people. And even though we may not have the type of public failures that some do, remember that we all fail our way to success!
So keep your foot on the gas and never give up on your health and your dreams!
